Our 3 StIles

Trellis offers a scaffolding for followers of Jesus to build faithful and fruitful lives around:

The
Command

“Love The Lord Your God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength [physical resources], and love your neighbor as yourself"
Mark 12:30-31

Jesus himself calls this the Greatest Commandment. Loving God, ourselves, and others (in that order) informs what we are to do with our lives.

The
Commission

"Go and Make Disciples of All Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the name of the Son, and the name of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you"
Matthew 28:19-20

After understanding what Jesus calls us to, the Great Commission informs where we are to do it. We are to make disciples wherever God has planted us.

The
Compass

"What does the Lord require? To do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God."
Micah 6:8

Fortunately, we’ve also been given how we are supposed to show up, in what we like to call, the Great Compass. Trellis is committed to offering resources that help you grow in the direction the compass directs as you do what you’re called to where you’re called to do it.

Explore the Garden

There are 6 sections in The Garden between which you’ll send your time. The journal is designed to help you analyze the soil of your heart, discern what God is looking to cultivate within you, uproot things that would detract from your fruitfulness, and celebrate your growth, all as you walk in community. Take a few minutes to explore them!

This section will invite you to locate and begin to break up the compacted parts of you that might otherwise be resistant to growing what God might be looking to do in and through you. You will spend time getting a feel for the current state of the soil of your heart, mind, and spirit. Planting takes preparation, and this is it!
After uncovering some of your desires for this season and encounter some of God’s desires for you, you will spend time discerning where exactly to focus your attention and energy each month.  What seeds do you want to plant to help you get closer to your ideal garden? You will be able to set growth goals while mapping out your month so you can prioritize fruitfulness.
Daily journal pages invite you to nurture the seeds you’ve planted with God through prayer, surrendering your schedule, and practicing walking in justice, mercy and humility.
Assessing the health and progression of what you’ve planted is an informative step that will inform how you should continue forward. These pages you invite you in to brief reflection and evaluation with God, and sometimes your companion (the person you decide to journey with through The Garden).
As in any garden, it’s likely there are opportunistic weeds looking to grow in the fertile soil of your life. Digging deep beneath the soil of your heart, this section is designed to invite you to uproot the things seeking to crowd out the fruit you’ve been cultivating. Themes like worry, repentance, and forgiveness are explored.
After several weeks journeying with God and your companion, the three of you will spend time noticing and celebrating what’s grown within, between, and around you. You may very well be pleasantly surprised by the yield from your time in The Garden!
Extra tools can be found here to help you make the most of your time with God and your companion in The Garden. Throughout the journal you will be appropriately directed if a tool might make the work you’re invited to a little easier or more fruitful.
